With a few of the crew tied up with other commitments, we could only muster three pairs of hands this week. Stiles don’t install themselves, so under a blanket of mist, the three of us met early and headed out to Upper Lacon Farm, to the eastern end of the rerouted path.

On days when we have a full team, we usually work like a tag team — dig, scoop, stand back, watch, chat, offer the occasional helpful opinion, then repeat. Without the luxury of a full crew today, there wasn’t much time for standing back or chatting. Six holes, each two feet deep, needed digging.

Thankfully, there were no trees nearby — so no roots to battle — but the soil was hard, dry clay, which made it far from easy going.

No video this week, far too busy for that sort of malarkey, but the finished stile was a vast improvement nonetheless.
