Sometimes you have to make decisions – What to do with the corner of a field with two heavy field gates and a cow-mire between them (I’ll leave that to your imagination). Mr & Mrs Ford were concerned that sometimes people leave a gate open and, not surprisingly, the cows escape to a new world of food etc. The original plan was to jink the footpath left to install a stile at the side of each gate. This necessitated cutting through two hedges but left the walker to enjoy the intervening cow-mire!
But – jink the path the other way (15 feet?) and you go through the hedge early, install one stile and avoid the gates/cows altogether. A really difficult decision – – – – not.
Now the footpath between Soulton Road and Aston Road is complete and open – where to next?
Perhaps you dear readers would like to make suggestions – where do you think there’s a footpath problem that we could fix?
