Today a couple of us braved the forecast rain (60% – but it didn’t) to do some local path clearance.
Spring/Summer is the time when nature tries its hardest to obliterate our ‘Ten Wem Walks’ and we have to go out and combat the nettles and briers.
Today we tackled the short footpath between the river Roden and Tilley, part of walks 5 and 8.
That done we cleared a gate towards Ruewood Nature Reserve on walk 4.
With no rain around we decided to tackle the ladder stile on Soulton Road, next to Dairy Barns.
The ladder stile marks the start of a footpath across to the A49 – so we went to have a look. Oh dear – there are remains of several choked stiles and sleeper bridges and eventually we couldn’t get through and had to retire hot and scratched; A future task perhaps?
