This morning, Paul Mantell and I conducted a reconnaissance walk of Wem Walk 3 to assess its ‘foot-worthiness’. If you haven’t tried it yet, the route starts with a train to Prees, followed by a delightful walk back to Wem, including some sections on the Shropshire Way.
The recent warm, wet weather has led to prodigious growth, which we will cut back as part of our maintenance.
Everything was going smoothly until we reached the first Shropshire Way section, where it became quite wet underfoot (or in other words flooded!), as you can see in the pictures. This area has been like this for at least two months and probably much longer. It is unlikely to drain anytime soon, so we retraced our steps and have come up with an alternative route for this section. We will incorporate this into the walk notes and republish them.
Despite this, we had a thoroughly enjoyable walk.
