We are nearing completion of the latest Wem Walk, Wem Walk 1, it’s been a long time coming due to challenges on the route. A trio went out this week to check the walk directions, clear some brambles etc. from the stiles and install the Wem Walk way-marks.
The walk starts at the free car park at Bowens Field and goes north up Trentham Road before joining the bridleway off Meadow Close. A short distance up the path there’s an official diversion taking the route around the busy Reeves woodyard. The route then heads east along the Ryebank road for a short distance before turning back to Wem down the northern spur of the Shropshire Way. It’s an easy 4.2 Km/2.6 mile walk (stay out of the deep pond en-route!) through the fields and meadows to the north of Wem.
