In spite of the impending Storm Floris three hardy souls set out today to continue last week’s work near Poolhead. Last week it was a gate at one end of the footpath, this week it was replacing a dilapidated stile at the other end. The middle double stile will be our next task.
The old stile was pretty useless and quite dangerous. While we were at it we re-installd the finger post and put a sheath over the adjacent barbed wire.

We were protected from the weather by the adjacent overgrown hedge though we did get a bit wet.
On the other side of the road there was a finger post for another path – buried in the hedge. Once we’d cleared the foliage a future task was revealed – move the finger post and add steps for a stile.

These footpaths will be used in our planned circular walk to/from Newtown.
As a bonus one of the local property owners treated us to tea and crumpets – perhaps we need to make a habit of working near there!
Happy walking.
